Pork Mince
Pork and Bacon Spaghetti
Ingredients
1 packet Heartland NZ pork mince
- 200g NZ bacon, diced
- ½ red onion, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ¼ tsp chilli flakes
- 2 tsp thyme, chopped
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 400g tin crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 packet dried pasta, spaghetti or other
- Grated parmesan to serve
Method
- Fry bacon in a hot pan until cooked. Add pork mince and cook until brown – about 10 minutes.
- Add onion, garlic, chilli flakes, and thyme, and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
- Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes, stock and sugar and cook until sauce is thick and glossy – about 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to packet instructions.
- Serve pork sauce over spaghetti, and top with grated parmesan.
